For three years, the Mellon Race, Place, and Equity Program solicited proposals from professors in all fields who wished to develop courses featuring a strong element of community-engaged teaching. Currently, Community-Engaged and Service-Learning (CESL) course grants are offered by a separate division in the Office for Academic Outreach. Please note: The Mellon Race, Place, and Equity Program also offers grants to support faculty wishing to augment an already existing community-engaged course. Faculty may apply for an initial $2,000 award as well as support for two additional iterations of the course at the same funding level.
